Camper is a four-year-old, black, male German Shepherd that was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center on Aug. 13. Camper is friendly and allowed the medical staff to handle him. During his time in the play yard, Camper sat at the gate when his handler approached. The handler opened the gate and was able to leash him. When he arrived at the pen, he approached the fence and exchanged a nose-to-nose greeting with a female Labrador and a Pitbull. When he entered the yard, he approached that group and exchanged good greetings. He approached both handlers in the yard, seeking affection. One of them began to pet his head, and he sat down and leaned into the handler seeking further affection. He sat while tolerating a female Shepherd and a male Husky sniffing his body. After a few minutes, he began to explore the yard. He began to pace the fence and look to the top as if he was attempting to jump. A handler stood by the fence and he walked away. He remained social and tolerant. He did not display a play style. Camper is non-reactive around other dogs and was friendly with people, seeking attention. Camper is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children and is OK to be around large dogs.
